Finland’s largest carrier, Elisa, has released their sales rank for December and for the whole of 2012. As expected Nokia phones feature prominently, and the Nokia Lumia 800, which took the country by storm in February 2012, has secured the top spot on the list for consumers, and the second spot in Business after a Nokia feature phone.

For December the Nokia Lumia 920 did quite well, but I suspect was hamstrung by stock shortages and could only secure the 3rd spot on the list behind the Nokia Lumia 800.

While there is clearly a big difference between Finland and the rest of the world, the country is a great demonstration that Windows Phone is in fact a viable mass market ecosystem, even without Instagram.

Thanks Arun for the tip.
