The WC has today claimed that Nokia Here mapping division would no longer support Windows Phone directly, but will leave the further development of the app to Microsoft, using their license to the data.
To us the story sounded somewhat fishy, and it appears fortunately this is correct, as a representative of the company has flat out denied this in a blog post on their website, saying:
We have noticed some discussions in the blogosphere about HERE on Windows Phone. We want to clarify that we are committed to providing great products and consumer experiences for Windows based phones. We will continue to support our HERE apps to ensure that they will be compatible with future versions of Windows.
I would imagine, given the intense competition on iOS and Android, that the Windows Phone population is still the majority of Here’s market, and we hope they continue to support the user base going forward, not just in Windows 10, but further into the future also.
