Nokia confirms Lumia follow-ups for H1 2012

Nokia’s Taiwan general manaer Michael Hsu was not letting slip any state secrets when he confirmed Nokia will be launching new Lumia models in the first half of 2012, but it is still good news that we will not have to wait for another 12 months for a second generation of handsets from the company, as has been the case with other Windows Phone 7 OEMs this year.
Speaking to Digitimes, he noted these new models would power new sales momentum in Taiwan in 2012, and raise the ratio of smartphones to feature phones sold by the company to 50:50. Â Nokia sells around 80 million feature phones per quarter at present.
Hsu also added Nokia will make efforts to promote the development of the Windows Phone ecosystem, including enrichment of applications. Nokia has already laid on a number of training seminars to help move developers from Qt and competing platforms to Windows Phone 7, and has also promised to distribute 25,000 smartphones to developers next year.
Two future Nokia handsets have been leaked so far, the high-end Nokia 900 or Ace and the likely lower-end Nokia 601. Â A Lumia handset with LTE has also been confirmed for the US market.
