Jeffrey wrote to tell us that his local Nokia Care service centre in Lebanon has flashed his Nokia Lumia 900 with Windows Phone 7.8.

The Care centres have apparently been offering the service for the last 2 weeks, presumably using the ROMs from Navifirm, and Jeffrey reports his handset is working pretty well afterwards.

Unfortunately Nokia’s special Bluetooth Sharing and Ringtone maker apps for Windows Phone 7.8 are not available yet, but this should only be a question of time.

We have heard similar stories from India already, so the practice may be quite widespread.  If you want the latest OS on your phone and don’t mind losing your SMS messages and other content, check your local Nokia Care centre and stop waiting for your carrier.

Thanks Jeffrey for the tip.
