If you are using the latest Chromium-based Edge browser from Microsoft, then you should be worried about this news. Google’s latest YouTube experience no longer works on the latest Edge version. Instead, you will be presented with an old YouTube experience which looks like the below.
YouTube also presents a message asking users to switch to Google Chrome to get the latest experience. Despite being a Chromium-based browser, it looks like the new Edge is not qualified to render the latest YouTube look.
Google is taking advantage of its monopoly in online video to promote its Chrome browser. This move from Google is not completely surprising given their past actions related to Windows Phone and others. Hopefully, someone from the US government or European Commission will take a look at Google’s evil actions.
