Mancae90 have posted some more screen shots from the beta version of WhatsApp, version 2.11.408.

The screen shots shows that WhatsApp has continued to tweak the user interface of the app, with the unread message indicators now improved.

More interesting however are new icons in the Profiles section of the app, which currently when tapped takes you directly to the chat pane, but, given hints in translation files about voice calls, may also soon allow users to make VOIP calls to other WhatsApp users.

The WhatsApp founder and chief executive, Jan Koum,  has earlier confirmed voice calls were coming to first iOS and Android, and then later Windows Phone and Blackberry, saying:

“We’re adding voice to WhatsApp so people can stay in touch with friends and loved ones no matter where they are in the world.”

As usual, we continue to wait for WhatsApp to push the latest beta changes to regular users, in what, much like Windows Phone 8.1, promises to be a rather large update.
