We have heard, via reliable leaker Ice Universe, that a wave of handsets will be coming next year with bigger than 100% screen to body ratio. The concept is somewhat difficult to wrap your mind around until it is seen in action, which is exactly what we are now able to do after Oppo released some photos and video of a prototype handset will such a “waterfall” screen which wraps aggressively down both sides of a handset.

The concept is even better demonstrated in video, which Ice Universe posted here.

While most people express concern around accidental screen activation in this design, this does not appear to be an issue for the demonstrator in the video, and the visual effect is of course stunning.

According to Ice Universe, the screen is expected to show up in the Huawei Mate30 Pro, Vivo NEX 3, next year’s OPPO Find X II, and another Xiaomi’s flagship phone.

Given the large number of devices which will be featuring the new Full Display 2.0 design, unless something goes disastrously wrong, it does appear to be the future of premium screens.  What do our readers think of the look? Let us know in the comments below.
