While Samsung has just finished the final adjustments on their Galaxy Fold, LG has submitted more trademark applications for a foldable smartphone.
Late last year, LG filed for three brand names at the EUIPO- Flex, Foldi and Duplex; and a few months ago, they filed a patent for a transparent phone.
2 weeks ago, KIPRIS approved two further trademark applications, under the names: Fold and Arc. Logos were also a part of the applications.
Their descriptions are similar, both consisting of a mobile phone, smartphone touch pen and LED display. LG has been working for some years on a folding smartphone, and has published a number of patents for devices which resemble the Samsung Galaxy Fold, and also the Huawei Mate X.
The trademark suggests that these devices are now moving closer to market, meaning that Samsung and Huawei may actually have some decent competition in the future.
