GitHub has been free to students and teachers for classroom use for years now. Today, GitHub announced a new program called GitHub Education that will help schools of all types and sizes to adopt GitHub and all other GitHub education offerings in a single bundle.
GitHub Education bundle includes access to GitHub, Student Developer Pack developer tools, workflows for teachers in GitHub Classroom, and training through Campus Experts and Campus Advisors. In addition, GitHub is also offering free access to its Business Plan and GitHub Enterprise.
As a GitHub Education school, you’ll enjoy:
- Free access to GitHub Enterprise or Business Hosted for all of your technical departments
- Teacher training to master Git and GitHub with our Campus Advisors program
- Automated access to premium GitHub Education features, like the GitHub Student Developer Pack
- Exclusive access to new features, and GitHub Education-specific swag
โOur mission is to prepare tomorrowโs workforce, entrepreneurs, and thinkers with skills and a digital toolset for the 21st-century. We want to make education and pathways to the workforce accessible, and GitHub Education is helping us do that globally,โ said Kwame Yamgnane, co-founder of coding school 42 Silicon Valley which was an early adopter of GitHub Education.
