On June 4, 2025, during Sony’s State of Play, Digital Eclipse announced the upcoming release of Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4, slated for later this year. This collection compiles several of the franchise’s early titles, including Mortal Kombat (1992), Mortal Kombat II (1993), Mortal Kombat 3 (1995), Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 (1995), and Mortal Kombat 4 (1997). It also features handheld versions like Mortal Kombat Advance (2001), Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance (2002), and Mortal Kombat: Tournament Edition (2003) .
Players can experience these games across various platforms, including arcade, SNES, Genesis, Game Boy, Game Gear, and Game Boy Advance. The collection supports online multiplayer with rollback netcode, ensuring smooth gameplay. Notably, the Genesis version of Mortal Kombat includes the classic “blood code,” which the game will automatically input for players.
