At their annual user conference in San Francisco last week mobile device management company MobileIron announced a number of initiatives that expanded their support for Windows 10 Mobile and Windows Phone.

MobileIron’s Tunnel product, which is MobileIron’s per-app VPN that connects device-level MAM frameworks to Sentry, their mobile gateway, has been expanded to work with Android for Work and Windows Phone. Previously only iOS was supported.

MobileIron also announced a preview of their support for Windows 10.

Currently, MobileIron supports the MDM and device-based MAM frameworks that are available in Windows Phone 8.1 and Windows 8.1.

MobileIron will now support Windows 10’s new MDM APIs and device-based MAM frameworks (called Windows 10 Enterprise Data Protection).  This will be across phone, desktop and tablets, with MobileIron expecting many desktops will in the end be managed by MDM rather than group policy.

MobileIron is one of the leaders of the MDM market, competing mainly with AirWatch and not many others.
