We all know Windows 10 Mobile will bring support for Matroska Video Stream or .mkv support, which has also been called the pirates format due to its limited use in legitimate channels.

Great news for those wearing eye patches however is that even Windows Phone 8.1 Update 2 will support the format, with the WC reporting that such videos are now playable in the Xbox Video app.

Windows Phone 8.1 Update 2 has brought a large number of attractive features, including Reset Protection, support for Bluetooth Keyboards, improved and pinnable settings and much more, but unfortunately except for the lucky few who received it via the Windows Insider program, the new OS is only expected to roll out to new handsets like the Lumia 640 and 640 XL and the new Lumia 540.
