Recently, GOG.com delisted and removed all of its Telltale titles. Now, it appears that both seasons of Minecraft: Story Mode are being delisted from, well, everywhere.
An official message on Minecraft.net, apparently posted on behalf of Telltale, reads as follows:
On behalf of the publisher, Minecraft: Story Mode – A Telltale Games Series, Season 1 and 2 will no longer be supported on June 25th, 2019. If you have purchased these seasons, please download all remaining episodes prior to the service being discontinued in June.
The message strongly implies that Minecraft: Story Mode is being taken down from every single digital storefront that it’s available on and that once the game has been removed, it can’t be redownloaded.
If you own either or both seasons of Minecraft: Story Mode on any of the game’s supported platforms, you have until June 25th to download the episodes.
The platforms are:
- Microsoft Windows
- macOS
- PlayStation 3
- PlayStation 4
- PlayStation Vita
- Wii U
- Nintendo Switch
- Xbox 360
- Xbox one
- Android
- iOS
The delisting of Minecraft: Story Mode and the removal of Telltale’s catalog from GOG is due to the studio shutting down. Telltale sadly began to close down last year, with many of its games disappearing from online stores soon after.
It is extremely likely that more Telltale titles will be pulled from other digital storefronts in the future, due to licenses expiring and various other reasons, so if you’re looking to pick up a digital copy of a Telltale title, don’t delay.
