Microsoft is expected to start rolling out Windows 10 Mobile to users sometime soon. Ahead of the release, the company has started working on a new app that will allow users to check if their Windows Phone is eligible for the Windows 10 Mobile release. The app, Uprgade Advisor, is pretty simple, and unfortunately, it isn’t available to the public. Thanks to our sources, we were able to get two screenshots of the app which you can see below:
And here’s how Micorsoft describes the app:
The Windows 10 Mobile Upgrade Advisor app will tell you if your Windows 8.1 phone is eligible for upgrade to Windows 10 Mobile. It can also help free up space on your phone so you’re ready for the upgrade. When you open the app, it checks your phone and lets you know if it’s eligible to upgrade, if an update is required before you can upgrade, or if your phone can’t be upgraded. See windows.com/mobilespecs for more information. Â If your phone is eligible for the upgrade, you may need to free up some space to get it. The app will recommend files, such as videos or photos, that you can temporarily move to OneDrive or an SD card, if you have one installed. Accept the recommendations, or change which files you want to move. You can also delete some files, if you want. If you move files to OneDrive, you need to use the app to restore files back to your phone after Windows 10 Mobile is installed.
As you can see on the above screenshot, the app looks quite unfinished — especially in terms of the user interface. For those wondering, Microsoft previously stated that the Lumia 430, Lumia 435, Lumia 532, Lumia 535, Lumia 540, Lumia 635 (1 GB), Lumia 640, Lumia 640 XL, Lumia 735, Lumia 830, and Lumia 930 will be getting Windows 10 Mobile at the intial release. For now, it isn’t yet clear when the OS will start rolling out to users yet, but that should be happening Soonâ„¢. Here is a screenshot of the app’s listing on the Windows Store:
We will let you know when the app is available to the public, until then, tell us your thoughts about Upgrade Advisor in the comment section below.
