The July 2019 Xbox update introduced new features, inspired by Microsoft Insider feedback; including improvements to the Xbox Skill for Alexa.

Microsoft have broadened Alexa’s bank of questions and answers; so to discover new games, you can just ask “Alexa, ask Xbox what’s new on Game Pass?”  You can also find out what the most popular games are, and what games will be soon removed from the catalogue.

Alexa can now help you check up on your friends.  You can discover who’s online, and what they’re playing by simply asking “Alexa, ask Xbox what my friends are playing”.

Arguably, the most convenient feature of all is the ability to pair your controller using just your voice, “Alexa, ask Xbox to pair my controller.”  You no longer have to leave the comfort of your couch (or bed).

Gamers from Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Mexico and Spain will be happy to know that they can now also experience the comforts of Xbox Skill for Alexa.

Here are some brief instructions of how to set up Alexa as a digital assistant for Xbox one.
