edge extentions

Microsoft’s Edge Extensions download page leaked yesterday, and while it was not possible to install the extensions on Edge yet, interestingly developer By Bavo Luysterborg was able to get them running, in a fashion, on Google’s Chrome browser.

It is well known that Microsoft’s goal was to make it easier for developers to bring their extensions from Chrome to Edge, and it appears only minor edits to the manifest files and minor patching are needed to enable the port.

The website for Edge extensions reveals that the browser will initially have extensions for Microsoft Translator, Reddit Enhancement Suite, and Mouse Gestures:

The experiment suggests it will not be very hard for developers to maintain plugins for both Chrome and Edge, which will hopefully eventually have enough market share to encourage developers to do just that.
