Microsoft seems to be working on a new service which will allow users to create, share and store digital memories. The company has a new studio called the Evoke Studio, which will work with the Microsoft Research and OneDrive teams to build the new service. For now, the service does not have a name – but, from the looks of it, the service could be a lot like Google Photos.

Microsoft is currently hiring for its new Evoke Studio, and the job listings for the studio reveal some more info about the upcoming service:

Evoke is a new studio within Microsoft creating a portfolio of experiences that will forever change the way people create, recall, relive, and retell their digital memories. Our team has a strong heritage of innovation and storytelling on platforms that includes Windows, Kinect, and HoloLens. We are applying that expertise to change the future of digital memories and prove that nothing is impossible.

According to several job listings, the Evoke Studio team has been working with machine learning for a while, and the team also worked on some of the most ambitious products from Microsoft such as the HoloLens and Kinect.

As for the new service, another job listing states that the service will “transform how people tell stories” using machine learning algorithms:

We’re building a service to complement our Evoke client applications. This new service will run revolutionary computer vision and machine learning algorithms over billions of digital assets to create a new realm of possibilities, and transform how people tell their stories and preserve their memories through photos and videos. The collection and subsequent high scale analysis of digital assets enables us to derive information that enables a much richer, more personalized digital memory experience for our users.

As ZDNet notes, the upcoming service will work within the Windows Apps Studio Team, which is focused on bringing new experiences to Windows devices. The upcoming service will, indeed, be very interesting. As you may already guess, Microsoft is still working on the service, and it’s probably not ready for the public just yet. Hopefully, we will get to know more about the new service in a couple of months.
