Microsoft is reportedly working on a new shell for Windows 10 that will modernize Windows. The shell, which Microsoft is internally known as the “Cloud Shell” will offer a “lightweight iteration of Windows.” Windows 10’s Cloud Shell will essentially bring a lightweight version of Windows 10 for the modern computing devices.

While there isn’t a lot of information available regarding the new Cloud Shell as of yet, the report from Petri mentions that the shell could possibly be related to Windows 10 on ARM which was announced last year at WinHEC. It seems like the Cloud Shell and Windows 10 on ARM combined may just be Microsoft’s second take on Windows RT as the Cloud Shell is also expected to have the Universal Windows Platform and Windows Store.

Once again, details regarding Cloud Shell is scarce at the moment, so it’s probably best not to speculate about what Cloud Shell would actually be able to do when it’s ready. But as per usual, we will let you know when new details regarding Cloud Shell appears.
