A couple of weeks back we reported that Microsoft had added ads to the Mail and Calendar app which was met with a lot of backlash from the users. Microsoft immediately took Twitter to confirm that they have turned off the feature which was never intended for broader testing.

Today, Microsoft has released a new update for the Mail and Calendar app removing the ad code completely from the app. We are still not sure if the rollout was intentional or if it was really a mistake on Microsoft’s part (though one wonders what the purpose of the “experiment” was if not to test for a full rollout) but the good news is that Microsoft has removed the code completely from the app.

The new update also bumps the app to v16005.11029.20081.0 and is available for all the Windows users. You can head to the Microsoft Store to download the update for the app.
