Developers are reporting that Microsoft has removed the requirement to pay  a yearly fee to remain in the windows phone developer program and also to keep their apps in the Windows Phone store.

This means instead of paying $19 each year, developers only have to pay a once-off fee, and app will also not expire from the Window Phone Store.

This is of course good for developer, but does remove the mechanism by which unsupported and unsuccessful apps would naturally be removed from the store.
