Microsoft today released Cumulative Update Build 14393.2396 to Windows 10 Anniversary Update (Windows 10 Version 1607) users. This update does not include any new features, but it fixes an important issue which caused “Access Denied” errors and applications with COM activation to fail after installing July 2018 Security and Quality Rollup updates for .NET Framework.

This update addresses an issue that was introduced in the July 2018 .NET Framework update. Applications that rely on COM components were failing to load or run correctly because of “access denied,” “class not registered,” or “internal failure occurred for unknown reasons” errors.

You can download this update through Windows Update.
