Microsoft Q2 FY18 Earnings: Office 365 commercial saw a revenue growth of 41%

Microsoft today announced FY18 Q2 earnings results with a revenue of $28.9 billion and operating income of $8.7 billion. Microsoft reported that Office commercial products and cloud services revenue increased 10% (up 10% in constant currency) mainly driven by strong Office 365 commercial revenue growth of 41% (up 41% in constant currency).

In the consumer Office segment, the total number of Office 365 subscribers increased to 29.2 million. Also, the Office consumer products and cloud services revenue increased 12% (up 11% in constant currency). As businesses are migrating to cloud based solutions like Microsoft’s own Office 365, Office commercial products revenue declined by 16% this quarter.

Linked contributed $1.3 billion to Microsoft’s revenue and the sessions grew 20% when compared to the last quarter.

“We delivered another strong quarter with commercial cloud revenue growing 56% year-over-year to $5.3 billion,” said Amy Hood, executive vice president and chief financial officer of Microsoft. “Strong execution from our sales teams and partners is driving growth across our businesses.”
