In a statement to Winrumors Microsoft has confirmed that it has stopped the roll-out of its pre-NoDo update, but only for Samsung’s Windows phone 7 handsets.

"We have identified a technical issue with the Windows Phone update process that impacts a small number of phones. In response to this emerging issue, we have temporarily taken down the latest software update for Samsung phones in order to correct the issue and as soon as possible will redistribute the update." they said.

The fiasco somewhat undermines the idea that all Windows phone 7 handsets are created equally, at least internally, and it difficult to allocate blame, but I think most readers would agree the responsibility for testing the update lies with Microsoft in the end.

A fix for the issue is expected in the next few days.
