Two of the recently introduced Surface devices: the Surface Laptop and Surface Pro, do not include a single USB Type-C port. A lot of users are disappointed by the fact that Microsoft is still sticking to Type-A ports, but Microsoft said last year that they working on a USB Type-C dongle for the Surface that will allow users to use Type-C on their Surface. After 9 months of the announcement, Microsoft is yet to release that dongle in the market.

Today, Microsoft confirmed to The Verge that this USB-C Surface dongle is “on the roadmap for later this year”. Microsoft’s last Surface device, Surface Book 2, already features a USB Type-C port. Hopefully, Microsoft will release this dongle before they launch the updated Surface Laptop and Surface Pro devices with built-in USB Type-C ports.
