Some pundits believe that the winners and losers of the AI revolution will also be the overall winners and losers of the next century, if runaway artificial intelligence does not kill us all first of course.
So far Google with their Deepmind has been the mindshare leader, with high profile projects such as Alphago.
Microsoft has however not been idle, and recently invited BBC Newsnight to see what the company has been working on in their Seattle research labs, showing off projects ranging from speech and complex object recognition to AI-based farming, and discussing issues such as using AI to hack elections.
