Either as part of an early roll-out or a trial, it appears Microsoft set to expand its SkyDrive service in a way which should satisfy many of its users.

A reader of Brazilian site Gemind.com.br noticed that SkyDrive was advertising native client apps for both the PC and Mac, and was in addition offering to sell an extra 20, 50 or 100 GB of storage for around $11, $27 and $54 per year.  The first 25 GB remained free.

SkyDrive is set to form an integral part of Windows 8 and presumably Windows Phone 8 also, and if Microsoft can fulfil the promise of media and document storage in the cloud, accessible on all devices, they may very well get themselves a pretty nice new revenue stream for the post-PC era.
