Microsoft’s partnership with the Amazon Echo team has just gotten a bit cozier, with Microsoft now offering the Amazon Echo Dot (3rd Gen) in the Microsoft Store.
The listing makes much of the marriage of Cortana and Alexa, for example noting:
Use voice commands to power your play with the Xbox Skill for Cortana and Alexa. Turn on your console, launch games and apps, capture screenshots, adjust volume, and more. It’s one of the fastest, easiest ways to interact with your console for everyday tasks.
Microsoft recently lost the VP in charge of Cortana and moved the voice assistant to a position under the office team, where she seems destined to become a souped up Clippy. Amazon conversely added another 5000 employees to the Alexa team, making the division 10,000 strong, suggesting the best voice assistant to buy in the Microsoft store is probably one powered by Amazon.
TheEcho Dot does not seem to be in stock yet, but can be seen in the Store here.
