Microsoft has now started selling Surface Laptop with Intel Core m3 processor. This means the entry-level Surface Laptop price has now come down to just $799, $200 less than the previous entry-level model which came with Intel Core i5 processor. Intel Core m3 processor should be good enough for notetaking, web surfing, email, and basic everyday tasks. And the Intel HD Graphics 615 graphics chip should be powerful enough for watching HD videos and some light weight games.

I welcome Microsoft’s decision to sell entry-level Surface Laptop with Intel Core-m3 for just $799, but they should have done it from the start. During the mid-life period, we often come across $200 discounts on the existing Surface Laptop models, which means Intel Core i5-based Surface Laptop will be available for $799. If an user can grab a model with powerful processor for the same price, I’m not sure why he or she will opt for the new Intel Core M model.

You can order the new SKU here from Microsoft Store.
