It’s been a long time coming, but Microsoft has finally started force updating Windows 10 users who are still on Windows 10 1903.

That version of the OS is now End of Life, and under Microsoft’s current policies this is the only circumstance where the company will force users to update the version of the OS.

Windows 10 1903 was meant to End of Life some time ago, but due to the pandemic, Microsoft has repeatedly postponed the forced upgrade so as not to increase the workload of network admins.

With 22% of Windows 10 users apparently still on Windows 10 1903, it may appear that some disruption may still happen, but Microsoft is only pushing users to Windows 10 1909, which is a rather small update, and so unlikely to cause any significant issues, especially now a year later when all the major issues have already been worked out.
