Microsoft continues expanding Widgets beyond the Windows 11 desktop. If you’re a Windows 11 user, you’re likely familiar with the Widgets feature on your desktop—Weather, Calendar, Entertainment, Stocks, and more. Microsoft is now bringing them to the Edge browser.
In case you didn’t know, these Widgets require Microsoft Edge to work, and Microsoft is now rolling them out to the Edge browser’s NTP as well. Widgets are completely optional—you can turn them off in Edge if not needed.
According to Microsoft, Widgets are small, dynamic cards that display real-time information. You can typically find and open them from the left corner of your Windows taskbar. Weather, Sports, Stocks, Calendar, and the News Feed within the Widgets board are some examples.
Better late than never—Microsoft already tested these in Canary first, and now they’re rolling out in Edge’s stable release, as we’ve noticed.
You can customize each Widget’s appearance by clicking its menu button. Turn off all Widgets or manage them from the page settings button on the new tab. With IPL cricket matches happening now, the Sports Widget could be useful for checking scores while you work.
