Microsoft’s recent financial push towards the live-streaming service Mixer has been revamped once again. Fans of the fledgling streaming service can now expect cheaper Mixer subscriptions to support their favourite streamers.
After a strong few months of streamer acquisitions – alongside the departure of founding staff – Microsoft has placed themselves in a keen position.
With Twitch‘s now-ex number one streamer Ninja bringing newfound members to Microsoft’s platform, the streaming service is becoming a real competitor. With streamers Shroud, King Gothalion and more also backing Microsoft, it’s an interesting battle.

Now, Microsoft is pushing a cheaper Mixer subscription. Instead of the $5.99 per month, subscriptions for the service are now just $4.99. It’s a high-percentage drop: with the lower cost having no effect on the income of streamers, Microsoft is creating a game changing moment for their platform.
Professional Mixer streamers, such as Covent and Ship, are praising Microsoft’s platform for putting streamers first. If you make lives easier for your creators, then they’ll be more likely to create. Other platforms could learn a lot from that.
With the updated price plan, anyone who has auto-renewed a streamer subscription should immediately have the newer rate attached to their active sub. If that isn’t the case, mixer will be issuing refunds for anyone who purchased or renewed a sub between Oct 24th-30th can request a refund to adjust to the new $4.99 pricing.
