Microsoft has confirmed that they have started their roll-out of Windows phone 7 handsets to employees.  The company had said earlier they would be giving all their 89000 employees free Windows Phone 7 handsets, and Maarten Sonneveld, the head of Microsoft Netherlands have recently tweeted that their employees have all been given Samsung Omnia 7s.

In a statement to allaboutphones.nl Microsoft said:

Microsoft Netherlands last week started with the internal deployment of Windows Phone 7. The vast majority of employees now use their new phone and the first experiences are very positive.

Samsung confirmed that they have received an order of 1,200 handsets, but would not confirm where the handsets went. Microsoft would not explain why they chose the Samsung Omnia 7 over handsets from other OEMs, but it is currently rated as one of the better Windows Phone 7 devices, with above average camera and video performance, and better load times than equivalent HTC devices which use embedded microSD cards for storage.
