Microsoft inaugurates Garage at its Hyderabad office in India

Microsoft today inaugurated The Garage at their corporate office in Hyderabad. The Garage is a concept by Microsoft where the company allows its employees to experiment, work on ideas and build prototypes together. The company provides employees with the required tools and hardware such as 3D Printers, IoT modules, etc. The company has also planned to open another The Garage at Bangalore by the end of the year.

The facility was inaugurated by Telangana’s IT Minister K T Rama Rao and is the first state of the art facility in India. It has three dedicated lab sections namely, A Hub for hackathons and workshops, a Makerspace and an Advanced Makerspace with electronic workbench, 3D printers, laser cutter, PCB milling machine for creating prototypes and a reality room dedicated to working in the space of Augmented Reality (AR) Virtual Reality (VR), and Mixed Reality (MR) applications.

The Garage enables employees to bring to life innovative ideas and solutions. The Garage program in India will be a connector to bring together people across roles, skills, and experience to lend their passion to create solutions unique to this market.

Some of the notable apps from The Garage include Microsoft Launcher, Seeing AI, SMS Organizer, Favorite Lock Screen and Kaizala. As Microsoft plans to expand The Garage to new locations, we can expect more ideas and innovative projects.
