On May 15, 2025, Microsoft began rolling out a new voice command – “Hey, Copilot!” to Windows 11 Insiders in the Dev and Beta channels. This feature lets users summon Copilot without clicking anything, bringing hands-free control to Windows.

To use the feature, users need a working microphone and must enable voice activation in system settings. Once that’s done, saying the phrase wakes Copilot, Microsoft’s AI-powered assistant embedded in Windows.

The feature is part of Build 26120.961, which continues Microsoft’s push to make Windows more accessible and interactive. It follows a pattern similar to voice assistants like Siri and Alexa, aiming to reduce friction between user and interface.

While the rollout starts with a limited group, Microsoft plans to expand access based on feedback. The company encourages testers to report bugs and usability issues through the Feedback Hub. This early feedback loop helps Microsoft polish the feature before a broader release.

“Hey, Copilot!” signals a shift in how people interact with their PCs. Instead of hunting through menus, users can now speak to get help, launch tasks, or access settings, without lifting a finger. This move brings Windows one step closer to a fully voice-responsive experience.
