At Build 2017 Microsoft showed off a new technology powered by Cortana where Microsoft would connect normal surveillance cameras to their cloud-based AI to keep an omniscient eye on everything which happens in various work settings, monitoring the workplace for policy violations such as spills, overactivity or the location of items.

The technology is obviously incredibly powerful, but can clearly also be misused by governments ranging from national to local, or even middle-management in companies, to oppress their citizens or employees.

Of course, the technology will likely create a lot of benefits also, and if Microsoft did not create it, someone, else will, but I can’t help to think the last shreds of our privacy will soon be slipping from our fingers.
