Microsoft Edge’s official social media account recently took a playful jab at Google Chrome, joking about its high RAM (memory) usage. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Edge said:
“Chrome users, blink twice if you’re running out of RAM.”
The tweet reminds users Chrome is notorious for being a memory hog. Microsoft Edge’s handle calls this an “undeniable truth,”. When someone pointed out Edge is also based on Chromium, Microsoft replied: “Let’s put it this way: Same engine, better ride.”.
Edge didn’t spare Firefox either, humorously saying Firefox users should also “blink twice” if they face memory issues.
While Microsoft Edge has a Resource Controls feature that helps users manage how much RAM the browser uses—especially useful for gamers—Chrome has its own “Memory Saver” mode, which reduces RAM usage by putting inactive tabs to sleep. It also offers performance alerts for heavy tabs.
If you often run out of RAM while browsing, Edge’s features might help. However, Chrome and Firefox also have optimizations. The best browser depends on your needs – try each to see which browser uses the least memory for you!
