Microsoft Designer, a new AI-powered graphic design tool for consumers, is getting some powerful new features, many of which will be powered by OpenAI’s DALL-E 3 model.
The announcement came just in time after today’s Microsoft Surface 2023 event, which also brought plenty of news on AI features coming to Windows like the Copilot assistant tool.
The new features include things like generative expand, fill, and erase. You might have guessed it: you can extend your image beyond its border using AI, add objects or backgrounds, or even remove them.
Microsoft Designer now includes OpenAI’s DALL-E 3, a powerful AI image generator. This means you can add unique, high-quality images to your designs in seconds — just like on Bing Image Creator.
“With creative tools like Designer, plus Bing Image Creator, Clipchamp, and Paint, you can now have an immediate visual draft of almost anything — with a few simple prompts,” Microsoft promises in the official announcement.
Because Microsoft Designer is also coming to Microsoft 365 Copilot, it will be introduced in some productivity apps. For example, in Word, you can use Designer to create compelling layouts for your documents, depending on their context.
Oh, did we also mention that Microsoft Designer is also coming to Android?
