Microsoft has updated the India focused Skype Lite Messenger app with a feature known as SMS insights. According to the changelog, SMS insights is a feature which “aggregates the relevant information from your SMS messages and presents it at a glance in smart categories, enabling you to get things done more quickly via relevant action links.”

The Skype insights tool is especially useful for users who get a lot of messages about services and bills via SMS, and serves to aggregate useful information much like Google Inbox does for email. Microsoft has been working on making SMS more useful for users in developing nations, it has yet to bring the same features to the regular Skype apps for Windows, iOS and Android.

Microsoft has also updated the mainline Skype for Android app with the same features it brought to the iPhone app earlier this week. You can now easily change the app language, share panoramic photos via chat, or share them in your daily “highlights”.

Skype and Skype Lite are available from the store links below.
