At Ignite 2018 today, Microsoft announced updates to Azure Cosmos DB. First, Microsoft is adding multi-master support in Azure Cosmos DB to offer high levels of availability and single-digit millisecond latency. Second, the new Cassandra API support brings the flexibility to use the data model and API of their choice. And the Reserved Capacity option enables customers to get up to 65 percent off the cost of their Cosmos DB usage.

Microsoft today also announced the new Azure SQL DB hyper scale service tier that adapts to workload needs. It can auto-scale up to 100 TB per database. This new service tier will be available from Oct. 1. It enables a high-performance storage system that expands the potential for app growth without being limited by storage size.
