Along with the 16 new capabilities for Copilot in Windows, Microsoft today also announced the Power Automate plugin for Copilot in Windows. Power Automate on Windows allows users to automate repetitive tasks.
With Power Automate plugin for Copilot in Windows, Microsoft is introducing automation features for Excel, PDF manipulation and file management. The following capabilities are supported in the initial release:
- Write an email to my team wishing everyone a happy weekend.
- List the top 5 highest mountains in the world in an Excel file.
- Rename all PDF files in a folder to add the word final at the end.
- Move all word documents to another folder.
- I need to split a PDF by the first page. Can you help?
Here’s how you can use Power Automate plugin features in Copilot in Windows:
- Download or update Power Automate Desktop to the latest version from the Microsoft Store.
- Sign in to Copilot in Windows with a Microsoft account. (Entra ID accounts are not supported for now)
- Activate the Power Automate plugin in the plugins section in Copilot in Windows.
- Once activated, you can try one of the above listed queries.
These Copilot for Windows improvements are rolling out to Windows Insiders in the Canary Channel today.
