At Ignite today, Microsoft officially announced the next perpetual update for Office, Office 2019. Office 2019 will feature updated versions of the Office apps (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and servers (including Exchange, SharePoint, and Skype for Business). Office 2019 preview will be released in mid-year 2018 and the final version will be shipping in second half of 2018.

Office 2019 will include all the new features Microsoft has delivered to its Office 365 customers over the past few years. Microsoft highlighted that improved inking features, new animation features in PowerPoint, new formulas and charts in Excel are some of the new features that will be part of this update.

“Office 2019 will be a valuable upgrade for customers who feel that they need to keep some or all of their apps and servers on-premises, and we look forward to sharing more details about the release in the coming months,” wrote Jared Spataro, general manager for Office.
