Kubernetes is an open-source system for automating deployment, scaling, and management of containerized applications. Kubernetes was built from the ground up as a lean, extensible and portable framework for managing Docker workloads. Microsoft first announced the preview support for Kubernetes on Azure Container Service last year. Today, Microsoft announced the general availability of the same.
Microsoft also announced the preview of support for Windows Server Containers with Kubernetes. Organizations can now try both Docker Swarm as well as Kubernetes through ACS. They also released an update for their DC/OS support to version 1.8.8. DC/OS. This update comes with a new orchestration framework called Metronome to run scheduled jobs, UI improvements and the addition of GPU and CNI support in the Universal container runtime.
