Microsoft yesterday announced the preview of Azure Regions in France which will allow customers worldwide to deploy services and test workloads in the France region. The new France Central region offers Azure Availability Zones with a 99.99% virtual machines uptime SLA when it becomes generally available.
Azure Availability Zones are fault-isolated locations within an Azure region, providing redundant power, cooling, and networking. This allows Azure customers to run mission-critical cloud apps with higher availability and fault tolerance to datacenter failures. With this preview, customers can deploy IaaS resources across Availability Zones in France Central. Also, Availability Zones in France Central can be paired with the geographically separated France South region for regional disaster recovery while maintaining data residency requirements.
With this announcement, Microsoft has announced 42 Azure regions globally which is more than any other major cloud provider including Amazon and Google.
