During Summer of this year, New Horizons Learning Systems Institute organised a month-long Summer programme in Lagos called “Nextgen IT Experts”; which would conclude with the appointment of Africa’s youngest Microsoft specialist in the Certiport international certification.

In a simulated work environment, the young candidates learned Microsoft Office-based skills; and through Microsoft’s new project-based testing, went on to apply this knowledge to academic and career-related settings.

As well as Microsoft Office, the students were trained in a range of different courses including Multimedia, Robotics Engineering, Drone Technology, Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality, AI, IoT, Coding.

When the time came for the pupils to take the Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2016 examination, 6-year-old Damilare Akano took the top spot, scoring 871 out of 1000 points.  Master Toluwalese Kwaku -who is 10 years old- came in second place with 825, and 8-year-old Master Kolawole Akano came in third with 800.

Test results aside, Nextgen IT Experts summer camp provided a foundation on which a group of talented young minds can build their futures.
