IMAG0909We have just received a report that Marketplace has been inaccessible for the last 4 hours.

We were able to confirm this, with my phone (in UK) also not being able to install applications.

When trying to install an application the phone throws up an error, saying “Can’t get this information at the moment.  Check again in a little while.”

In Germany a thread at Pocketpc.ch confirms the issue is widespread.

Are any of our readers having the same issue? Let us know your geographic location below.

Update: From the reports in the comments below the issue appears to be worldwide, likely involving the licensing of the apps. Some users are however unaffected.

Update 2: Tom reports again that pre-NoDo devices (7004 and 7008) are unaffected.  Can our readers confirm?

Update 3: Interestingly the issue also affects Zune Pass, suggesting again to me that a server handling licensing of content is having issues.

Update 4:

Microsoft’s official statement:

We have received reports that customers are having problems accessing Windows Phone Marketplace.  We are investigating these reports and will provide an update when we have more to share.

Update 5: Marketplace appears back up again, after about 10 hours down

Thanks Tom for the tip.
