Major mobile operators announce support for Windows 10 Always Connected PCs

Last year Microsoft and Qualcomm announced Microsoft’s Windows 10 on Snapdragon Always Connected PC initiative which would deliver laptops with 20-hour battery life which would only have to be charged once per week and which would deliver faster than WIFI Gigabit LTE connectivity anywhere in the world. At CES, Qualcomm announced that the following carrier will support these Always Connected PCs.

  • China – China Telecom
  • Italy – TIM (Telecom Italia)
  • U.K. – EE
  • U.S. – Sprint, Verizon

Today, Qualcomm announced that major mobile operators including AT&T and T-Mobile will support Always Connected PCs in the coming months. Find the list of new mobile operators below.

  • Australia – Telstra
  • China – CMCC (China Mobile Communications Corporation)
  • France – Transatel
  • Germany – Deutsche Telekom
  • Ireland – Cubic
  • Spain – Telefónica
  • Switzerland – Swisscom
  • U.S.A – T-Mobile and AT&T

“The Always Connected PC combines the connectivity and the simplicity of the smartphone with the power and creative capability of the Windows 10 PC, transforming how we work and play,” said Matt Barlow, Corporate Vice President, Windows and Devices, Microsoft. “In collaboration with Qualcomm Technologies and with the support of these mobile operators, consumers will be able to enjoy up to gigabit 4G/LTE connectivity and stay connected to the things that are most important to them.”

Qualcomm mentioned that Always Connected PCs will be shipping in the first half of 2018. And some of these operators are also planning to sell Always Connected PCs in their retail locations.
