During Google I/O keynote early this year, Google demoed a new feature called Live Caption for Android devices. Live Caption is an automatic captioning system that can run on an Android device without internet. Google today announced that Live Caption is now available on Pixel 4 devices. This feature automatically captions videos and spoken audio in real time on the Pixel 4 device. It is important to note that Live Caption won’t work during phone and video calls. You can position the displaying captions anywhere on the screen. To see more text, just double tap to expand the caption box.
For now, Live Caption works only for English language. But, Google has plans to add support for other languages in the future. In addition to Pixel 4, Live Caption will also be coming to Pixel 3, Pixel 3 XL, Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL devices later this year. Google is also working with other Android OEMs to bring Live Captions to more devices next year.
