Verifying skills of candidates is a big part of hiring process. LinkedIn today announced a new feature called Skill Assessments which will make the jobs of hiring managers easier. LinkedIn members can validate their skills and showcase it on their LinkedIn profile page. LinkedIn Skill Assessments are created by LinkedIn Learning industry and subject matter experts.

Here’s how to get started with LinkedIn Skill Assessments:

  • Simply scroll to the skill section of your profile and select one of the available Skill Assessments you’d like to take.
  • Any results are kept private to you, and if you pass (in the 70th percentile or above), you will have the option to add a “verified skill” badge to your profile.
  • If you don’t pass, you have complete control over the visibility of their results, and can brush up on your skills so you can pass next time.

Once you take an assessment, LinkedIn will allow you to take relevant LinkedIn Learning courses for free for a limited time to help improve your skills. If you pass an assessment, LinkedIn will send you relevant job recommendations as soon as they’re posted.

LinkedIn will roll out in-demand assessments including C++, Adobe Photoshop and Microsoft Excel in the coming weeks.
