The good news is that the third episode of Life is Strange 2, called Wastelands, is due out on the 9th of May.

The bad news is that while May 9th may seem like a bit of a wait, especially as Episode 2 came out all the way back in January, the game’s release schedule only gets stranger.

Episode 4 won’t be out until the 22nd of August and Episode 5 is almost an entire year away, coming out on the 3rd of December 2019.

Dontnod announced the staggered release schedule on Steam and while they didn’t give a reason for the long wait between episodes, they did provide a summary for the upcoming episode.

Episode 3, ‘Wastelands’, continues Sean and Daniel Diaz’s journey to Mexico, as they reach the towering redwood forests of California. Falling in with a community of drifters on the fringes of society, the brothers are exposed to new experiences, encounter new friends and challenges, and must confront much about themselves in the process. New relationships cause friction between the brothers and raise doubts about their unity. Can they stay together, or will their journey together end here?

Responses to the schedule have been mixed. Many Steam users have commented stating that they’ll ‘finally get to buy the game in 2020’ or remarking on how long the wait is, while others have said that it’s nice to finally have a set of release dates so they don’t have to keep checking in.

You can buy either the first episode of Life is Strange 2 or the complete season pass on Steam now. Just be aware that aside from Episode 1, you can’t purchase episodes individually.
