The year 2019 saw a rise in foldable smartphones. The start was a bit rocky with Samsung hitting multiple roadblocks due to design and Huawei getting sanctioned by the US government. This, however, didn’t stop companies from working on their very own foldable smartphones.

Now, it looks like LG is preparing to jump the bandwagon as a recent patent shows a Huawei Mate X like foldable phone. The patent was filed with The Hague International Design System in May 2019 and was published on November 29, 2019, under the name “Mobile phone.” The patent sketch looks similar to that of Mate X and it seems to have quadruple-camera setup to the side. The patent even shows a 3.5mm headphone jack which is a rare event these days.

Back in 2018, LG’s CEO confirmed that the company is indeed working on a foldable phone. LG, however, didn’t give a timeline of the launch and with 2019 ending soon, we hope to see the device next year. In the meantime, Samsung has already started working on Galaxy Fold 2 which will be replacing the existing Galaxy Fold.
